The Netflix series highlights the unfortunate situation of the victims and aims to raise awareness to prevent future abuses.

The Disturbing Network Of Zona Davis

Zona Davis was known for charismatic Mexican influencers for their glamorous lifestyle and vibrant social media presence.

However, their reality was far more complex than anyone had imagined.

Zona Davis’s darker side was revealed when one Argentine and four Venezuelan trafficking victims were found passed away between 2017 and 2018.

Ailen Grodzinski, an Argentine woman, lost her life on December 27, 2017.

Municipal police also discovered the lifeless body of a 26-year-old Venezuelan woman, Kenni Mireya Finol, on November 24, 2018.

Her attackers raped her, poured acid on her, and executed her. Later, her remains were left in the streets of the Jardines de Santa Clara neighborhood.

If the women refused to participate in sexual activities, the members of Zona Divas threatened them with sending these photos to their families or even taking their lives.

Afterward, an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of 20 individuals with ties with Zona Davis.

Claudia Sheinbaum, the leader of Mexico City’s governance at the time, highlighted the importance of strengthening the inquiry.

Additional Information

  • The directors of Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas traveled to different places to interview women who escaped the trafficking ring and the families of the victims.
  • Kenni moved to Mexico City, fleeing the economic crisis in Maracaibo, Venezuela, in 2015.
  • She wished to be a model but didn’t make it, so she took a shortcut to escort services. Her colleagues called her Paris Hilton.
