Kimya Dawson’s Illness Distanced Her Away From Nature And Music

The American folk singer Kimya Dawson suffered from osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and hypermobility, which kept her away from doing the things that she loved.

Due to her severe illness, her ankle and knees hurt, and she had to take the support of a rollator. She regrets not buying Rollator sooner.

Kimya suffered from pneumonia and was hospitalized due to high blood pressure and heart rate in April 2024.

Her disability has caused issues in several events, and in November 2022, she tweeted,

My mobility has become way more limited in the past few years. I have a question for other disabled folks who can’t do steps. If you are invited to perform at an event is it on you, the promoter, or the venue to make sure you can actually get onstage? #DisabilityTwitter

Kimya had suffered from Covid twice, which might have caused her allergies in her eyes.

She has been seeking help from doctors, but when people send her messages telling her she might have cancer, she thought to disappear from social media.

Fans speculated that she has covid, but in response, she said she would start blocking everyone who thinks she still suffers from it.

Furthermore, she said those things weren’t helpful when the medical system ignored her.

Netizens keep freaking her out, and telling her she probably has some immune disease is cruel.

She does everything she can to keep herself calm despite different comments from the anonymous person on social media.

Kimya was hospitalized when she only took 0-200 calories a day and started working with a nutritionist and eating disorder therapist.

They helped her gradually move to baby food and slowly introduced solids to figure out what she could tolerate.

Afterward, the rheumatologist diagnosed her with fibromyalgia and said the sickness was a significant flare-up triggered by the trauma and stress of having complications during hand surgery.

She was also told she might never play guitar again.

Nonetheless, she accidentally overdosed on whiskey and prescription pills on Christmas Day in 1998. She suffered a grand mal seizure and vomited blood.
