Rich Homie Quan and his two siblings were raised by a single mother.

Rich Homie Quan, an American rapper, tragically lost his life at age 33 in his Atlanta home on September 5, 2024. His autopsy is scheduled for Friday, which might reveal his cause of demise.

His parents, siblings, children, and girlfriend survive him. He began making music as a hobby and never saw himself going far with it, but he took it seriously after spending 15 months in jail.

Highlights

  • Rich Homie Quan’s single mother raised him alongside his brother and sister in Atlanta.
  • He studied at Prince Middle School with his younger sister and became a brother in rap games with Young Thug.
  • His father luckily survived after getting sh*t multiple times during an attempted robbery at a barber shop on September 29, 2014.

Dequantes Devontay Lamar initially dreamt of becoming a baseball player and played for over four years at Ronald McNair Sr. High School.

He earned a scholarship offer from Fort Valley State University but dropped out after attending for two weeks due to tuition expenses.

Later, Dirty South music influenced him, and he listened to Goodie Mob, Jezzy, Outkast, Gucci Mane, Kilo Ali, T.I., Lil Wayne, and Lil Boosie.

Rich released his mixtape Still Going In in 2012 and toured with Trinidad James in 2013.

Def Jam Recording released his “Type of Way” in August 2013, suggesting he signed with the label, but he was independent and considered signing with Cash Money Records.

His debut studio album, Rich as in Spirit, debuted at number 33 on the Billboard 200 in 2018.

Rich Homie Quan’s Siblings Maintained Their Personal Life Private

Rich Homie Quan, a member of the Rich Gang, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 4, 1990. He was the oldest of three children of Corey Lamer, owner of a barbershop.

His father was sh*t multiple times during an attempted robbery at a barber shop on September 29, 2014, but luckily he survived.

Rich’s grandparents were the first generation immigrants to the United States with an African American ethnic background.

His mother solely raised him alongside his brother and sister. He had expressed,

My mom was a single mother. I was eight or nine and realized my dad got money and my mama didn’t, but I got to the age where I didn’t want to depend on my dad. I wanted to be around my daddy, but I didn’t want to ask my daddy.

Rich hadn’t talked much about his siblings even though he rose to stardom with his music.

However, his younger sister was close to Young Thug as they studied together at Prince Middle School. Rich also studied there and became a brother in rap games with Young Thug.

There is no doubt that his brother and sister were heartbroken to hear the tragic news of their brother’s demise.

Nonetheless, Rich was the father of four children from different personalities. His oldest son, Devin, was born in 2006, but he didn’t know about him until he was five.

Similarly, he had two children, Royal Rich, born on April 19, 2004, and Layor Leonis Lamar, born on January 11, 2021, with his relationship with Amber Rella Williams.

Additional Information

  • Rich Homie Quan had amassed an estimated net worth of $3.5 million as of 2024.
  • The 2013 Michigan State Spartans football team adopted Type of Way as their anthem, and he was named one of the 2014 XXL freshman class.
  • He sued his former label, Think It’s A Game, for $2 million in unpaid royalties, but the label counter-sued him for breach of contract, which was settled in court.
